Two cracks that look alike from the driveway can cost different amounts. Below are our prices for caulking and crack repair in Santa Fe, and the factors that change them.
Caulking and small cracks
A caulking repair on a typical home runs about $30. If caulk is all the wall needs, that is all it costs.
Crack repair is priced by the square foot, at $7 to $18. Surface prep and the amount of wall covered decide where within that span a job falls. A run of cracks across a wall, or one wide section that needs cutting out, sits higher.

What moves the price
Area is the biggest factor, since the rate is per square foot. Finish matching is the second. We apply the finish and match the surrounding texture and color, and on a textured wall that blend can take real time even when the repair itself is small. Santa Fe has real winters and hot summers (climate zone 4B), so the existing wall has weathered, and a patch that matches a fresh sample can still look wrong against old stucco. We do the matching against the wall as it stands today.
Protection is part of the price too. We protect adjacent surfaces and keep the repair weather-tight while work is underway, so you are not left with an open cut or a mess on the windows and walkway.

How we cut a patch
For anything bigger than caulk, we saw-cut the repair perimeter with a masonry blade, set so it does not cut into the sheathing. We shape the patch to avoid re-entrant corners, meaning inside corners that point into the repair, because a crack tends to start at one. A clean, shaped cut gives the new material a sound edge to bond to and gives you a repair that holds up through both seasons.
Sometimes the cut shows that the damage goes past the stucco. If the lath or sheathing behind it is damaged, that is a separate repair priced separately, and we stop and say so before going further.
Getting a number
Call us with what you are seeing: how long the crack is, how many there are, and whether the finish is smooth or textured. On the call we can quote the usual $7 to $18 per square foot for cracks. We set the final figure on site, because the condition of the wall behind the stucco affects it as much as the visible crack.
